Sherry Marx is an Associate Professor of ESL education, multicultural education, and qualitative research. Her research focuses on examining and improving the education of linguistically and culturally diverse schoolchildren. Her research is grounded in contemporary critical theories, including critical race theory and whiteness studies.
Dr. Marx has guided several critically-oriented qualitative dissertations including studies of:
• Successful teachers of Latina/o students
• Successful Latina/o middle school students

• Teacher impressions of high and low income students
• Stereotype threat and African American women engineering students
