The ESL Endorsement Program…
![]() |
The USU ESL endorsement is available to K-12 students completing, or in possession of, a teaching license. Coursework is designed to address overlapping aspects of the field of ESL Education: language, culture, and learner. With this goal in mind, students take coursework in linguistics, language acquisition, language assessment, pedagogy, and the sociocultural and political dynamics continually influencing English language learners. The ESL program is designed to prepare teachers to be sensitive and responsive to the multiple contexts of English language learners and to become advocates for their students in educational settings, whether they become ESL teachers or teachers who work with English language learners in the mainstream classroom setting. |

The ESL Minor is available to Secondary Education students completing the endorsement and taking additional field service components, including student teaching.
